What is the difference between IV hydration? Why choose one over the other?IV hydration and vitamin injections are both methods of delivering fluids and nutrients directly into the body, but they serve different purposes and have different effects. IV hydration, also known as intravenous hydration, involves the administration of fluids directly into the bloodstream through a vein. This method is commonly used to quickly and effectively rehydrate the body when it is dehydrated due to illness, intense physical activity, or excessive alcohol consumption. IV hydration can also be used to replenish electrolytes and deliver medications. Vitamin injections, on the other hand, involve the injection of vitamins directly into the muscle or subcutaneous tissue. This method allows for the rapid absorption of vitamins into the bloodstream. Vitamin injections are often used to address specific deficiencies or to provide a boost of nutrients. Common vitamin injections include vitamin B12 injections, which are used to treat deficiencies and boost energy levels, and vitamin C injections, which are sometimes used for immune support. While both IV hydration and vitamin injections can deliver fluids and nutrients directly into the body, their purposes and effects differ. IV hydration primarily focuses on rehydration and electrolyte balance, while vitamin injections target specific vitamin deficiencies or provide a concentrated dose of vitamins for various purposes. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine which method is appropriate for your specific needs.

Can’t I just take vitamins for my nutrients? While we do recommend taking oral vitamins to maintain health in between treatments, studies have shown that only 10-50% of nutrients are absorbed after going through the GI tract. With an IV, 100% of the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream, where they can immediately be used by your body. At B.A.R Medical Spa, we value quality and only source our IV vitamins from pharmacies approved by the FDA.

How long does it take to get an IV hydration treatment?IV treatments can range from 30-60 minutes varying on which treatment you choose and your hydration levels. NaD+ drips can take up to 2hrs due to the ingredients and slower transfusion rate.

Are there any side effects?Side effects are generally non-existent or very mild. On occasion, you may experience some discomfort, bruising, redness, itching, inflammation, or redness at or around the site of injection that could last from a few minutes to several days. Is IV Hydration a new treatment?Intravenous therapy has been practiced by physicians for over a hundred years with it becoming widely acceptable and used in hospitals in the mid 1900’s. Considering that about 80% of hospitalized patients receive IV Therapy, chances are high that you or someone you know has experienced firsthand the rapid relief and recovery benefits of IV therapy. While IV hydration is a widely practiced and minimally invasive procedure, it still requires the knowledge of experienced experts who a) are medically trained, experienced and credentialed, b) know how to assess a patient’s vitals and health history to make sure an IV is the right form of treatment, and c) follow the best procedures and protocols for administering IVs safely and comfortably. Our nurses here a B.A.R Medical Spa are well vetted in IV hydration and has provided these services in multiple hospital and clinical settings.
